MISSIONS

Prayer is the key

"Pray, and keep praying. Be alert and thankful when you pray." Col. 4:2

Pray for our world as you watch the news each day. Pray for members of other religious faiths to encounter the life-giving Jesus Christ of the Bible. Pray for the unreached, unengaged areas/groups of our world who have no one to share the good news of Jesus with them.

Visit www.prayercast.com for inspirational videos and information as you pray for our world. Click here to watch an excellent video from their website.

Missions at Wonderful Mercy

Currently, Wonderful Mercy has several missionaries on the field. For safety reasons, missionaries serving in dangerous environments will not be named. Wonderful Mercy missionaries are serving in Wales, Madagascar, Brazil, and Israel. For more information on these missionary efforts, contact Diana.

Missions Focus for Children:
A Quarter Can Change the World

Our Kingdom Kids Sunday School program has been collecting weekly offerings since January 2014 with the goal of buying a goat and two chickens for a needy family in another part of our world through World Vision (www.worldvisiongifts.org). Each child is encouraged to bring one quarter each Sunday.

Local Outreach Endeavors

  • Open Arms Care Center (see below)
  • Just One Offering. Each Sunday we receive our Just One offering, a special offering collected to assist the poor and struggling in our community. All in attendance are invited to give one dollar–just one, no more and no less!–as they enter worship.
  • Christmas Angel Tree Project. A cherished tradition at Wonderful Mercy is the adoption of several local families who are not able to provide their children with Christmas presents. We shower these families with gifts and with a reminder that they matter to God.
  • Patterson Elementary School. We value our involvement in our community! What better way to show this than with our next-door neighbors? Every year we take fruit trays and baked goods to the staff at Patterson Elementary School. We do this at the beginning of the school year to show our appreciation for all they do for the children in our community.

OPEN ARMS CENTER

Wonderful Mercy serves people in the community God has called us to. We stand with Christ as advocates for those who are hurting, broken, lost, forgotten, or oppressed as confirmed in the words of the prophet Micah: “And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

Do you want to put your love for God into action? Here is your opportunity to serve our community.

Wonderful Mercy partners with this Christian-based food and clothing bank in Gilbert to serve people who are going through financial difficulties. Mike Boillot directs this ministry, which staffs the center with volunteers every Saturday morning. Once a month our church congregation has the opportunity to donate non-perishable food items as well as gently used clothing during Open Arms Sunday.

If you are interested in finding out more or you want to be part of our Open Arms Teams, contact Mike Boillot.

CHILDREN'S OUTREACH MINISTRY

Kids, looking for ways to boost your global awareness and be a part of expanding God’s Kingdom to all parts of the earth? Here are some ideas to help you!

  • Look at the labels of your clothes every day – and the toys you play with each day – find where they were made and pray for that country.
  • Spin a globe, put your finger on any spot while it’s spinning. Pray for the country where your finger landed. If you land on an ocean/body of water, you can pray for the people sailing across that ocean.
  • Look up the name of a country that begins with the same letter as your first name. Find out where it is on a map. Pray for that country.
  • It’s hard to imagine living in a place where no one knows about Jesus, but places like that still exist on our planet. Ask Jesus to show Himself to people living in places where no one has heard about Him. Then pray and ask God to send someone who knows about Jesus to that group and that the group would accept the person God sends.
  • Did you know it is illegal to believe in Jesus Christ in some countries? Pray for those who cannot legally call Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior.
  • Take a survey of your friends about their own religious beliefs. You may be surprised at what your friends believe/don’t believe. Pray for all your friends to know Jesus as their Best Friend.
  • Pick a foreign language. Learn a few key phrases in it. Then try to speak only that language at dinner. Was it hard to communicate?
