Leader:

David Hammerslag

Meeting Time:

Every Thursday

6:30-8:00pm

Meeting Type / Location:

In-Person at Hammerslag home

Dates:

September 16 - November 18

Description:

Have you ever wondered how to be a participant with God in being transformed into Christ-likeness? This spiritual formation group pursues participating with God in who He has created us to be. We are studying James Bryan Smith’s book, The Good and Beautiful God: Falling in Love with the God Jesus Knows. Smith says the most important thing about a person is what they think about God; it influences not only what they believe, but how they act. This is where spiritual transformation begins. Through a study of the New Testament gospels, we will discover the God Jesus knew and the kingdom He proclaimed as a way to grow in our own understanding of our good and beautiful God.

Note: Participants must wear a mask unless fully vaccinated against Covid and must have a copy of the book.

What might happen if we approached the world in silent wonder, with a humility and openness to learning? During this Life Together group experience, we will take time to listen, learn and, together, share our responses to a fascinating continuing conversation around “Learning How to See” led by Brian McLaren. Brian is back for Season Two of a powerful podcast unpacking the biases that impact the way we see—and ultimately love—ourselves and each other. From judgments made unconsciously to complacency in systemic evil, we must learn how to see before we can learn how to transform.

Description:

Calling all 7th – 12th grade students! Youth Life Together is a place where we value questions about God, life, family, friendship, and more. We believe that unanswered questions are not threats; they are catalysts for growth. Our community aims to create an open environment where students can explore their faith and let it grow naturally. We believe real transformation comes when you know that you are seen, you are heard, and you are loved. Currently we are watching "The Chosen" series and discussing each episode as we dive deeper into Scripture than ever before. Once a month we have a special, fun social event.
